About
Erich Cloete has worked in Education Management for the past 27 years. He was appointed Head of Department (1995), Deputy Principal (1997) and Principal (2003). He was one of the first principals to introduce the Kids Development Program (KDA) in Pretoria and was awarded the KDA Humanity award in 2002 for his efforts. Over the years he liaised with many people from various business sectors to raise funds in order to better education, which resulted in multiple radio and internet-based interviews. He has a Higher Diploma in Education, a bachelor’s degree, a Further Diploma in Educational Management and an Advance Certificate in Educational Management. He has also completed various curriculum based and other courses, wrote numerous articles for the magazine, School Management and Leadership which was distributed nationally and "Kleuterklanke" [Toddler sounds], the magazine published by the Association for the Education and Care of Young Children.
Mr Cloete presented at the African Education week 8th Annual Conference, at the 10th Annual International Education Creativity Conference and the annual Education Summit in Stellenbosch with the Topic: "CHARGED - And then what happens?" He also won the National Teaching Award for Excellence in Primary School Leadership in the Tshwane West Education district in 2015. He is an accredited Whole Brain practitioner, attended many International Creativity conferences and profiled the brain preferences of teachers and learners since 2006.
He appeared on television highlighting the benefits of utilizing the whole brain in teaching and learning.
He is an educationalist and his love for education inspired him throughout his career. He retired on 28 February 2025 to coach educators and people in leadership positions.
